SEATTLE WEEKLY
Listed in the December 1990 issue along with such notables as Bill Frisell and Robert Cray as one of the YEARLY LOCAL TOP TEN RECORDINGS by critics Roger Downey and Bart Becker.

Critics Roger Downey/Bart Becker said:

"Edward & Ellen Zincavage, "Blood of a Poet" (Blood of a Poet) Unlikely as it sounds, this basement recording project is wonderfully soulful synthesized "art-rock".

SEATTLE WEEKLY critic Bart Becker wrote in 1990:

"Edward Zincavage leads a double life. In one guise he makes haunting, beautiful, elaborately engineered recordings of arresting, ambitious, electronic art-pop. Away from the seductive charms of the recording studio, Zincavage does a Delta Blues act."
(SONGS: "Can't Get You Off My Mind" and "Counterfeit Love")

THE SEATTLE ROCKET 1989 said:

"One of the ten best local recordings submitted, offering mysterious, arty, poppish rock and the more adventurous excursions represented by Edward Zincavage."

BIO

Edward was raised in San Diego, California, and has lived in Seattle since 1985. His first guitar lessons were on classical guitar, from the late Catherine Manning of San Diego, California.

From an early age Edward loved both art and music, and studied both disciplines for years, until in his early 20's he decided to place most of his focus on learning to create and record music.

He has sang and played electric guitar professionally in rock and country bands since the age of 13. At age 19 he began performing solo on acoustic guitar, harmonica, and vocals, as well as continuing to work with rock bands in the San Diego area.

While in his 20's, Edward won first place in a fingerpicking contest in San Diego, California. Edward also attended college in Southern California in the 1970's and received a degree in Music.

In Los Angeles, Edward also played and performed on a 22-TONE MICROTONAL fretless bass, bass E-BOW, and electric guitar with a band named CIPHER. The style was similar to Siouxsie and the Banshees, but in a non-12 tone tuning system. This 22-tone scale was invented by ERV WILSON, a Los Angeles inventor..

In the midst of the home-recording revolution of the mid 1970's and 1980's Edward started the cassette label ART TEST TAPES, which featured songs by electronic, experimental music, and spoken-word artists from around the world. Several of the artists who's work was included on these cassette compilations have gone on to have successful careers including GORDON RAPHAEL, the producer of the band THE STROKES.

In the 1980's, Edward attended Shoreline Community College's audio recording program as well as Edmonds Community College's electronic music courses.

In the early 1990's Edward formed an ethno-electronic art-pop duo called BLOOD OF A POET, with his late wife, Ellen Zincavage as singer, lyricist, and keyboardist. This duo's recordings received praise from the critics.

Over the years, Edward has developed his solo DELTA BLUES SLIDE guitar songs and techniques, and is now a seasoned solo blues performer.

Throughout the years, Edward has studied classical, flamenco, blues, rock, folk, ethnic, electronic musics, audio and MIDI recording and production, and voice. Today he continues to explore various methods of composing and producing songs; as well as always learning new things in several different areas of music.

Besides being a musician, Edward is also a Washington State Licensed Optician.

When not teaching, Edward is in the studio composing and recording new works for release and performance.
